What you can hold us to, in five sentences.
- Your work is yours. Notebooks, journals, surveys, Studio artifacts — all of it. You can export everything in plain markdown, one click, anytime.
- You can cancel anytime, end-of-period. We do not auto-charge, surprise-charge, or trap you. Annual billing is the same product at a ~20% discount.
- Refunds: 7-day window on first-time paid subscriptions. See the full Refund Policy at /refund-policy. Email support@journal-genie.com — a one-founder operation that reads every message.
- We may pause or terminate accounts that violate the AUP — automation abuse, mass-farming rewards, impersonation, illegal use. We document why; we don't pull rugs.
- We don't promise perfect uptime, instant human support, or enterprise SLAs — and we won't pretend to. When something breaks, your work is safe and we tell you straight.
Accounts & subscriptions
Auth, accounts, and billing are operationally real. Plans renew until canceled. Cancellation is end-of-period. Plan changes via Stripe customer portal in Settings. Your work stays in your account across plan changes and after cancellation.
Ownership & export
Your content is yours. Our license to your content is narrow: only what we need to operate the product features you ask for. We do not claim a royalty-free perpetual license to your private writing. Export is a first-class product promise.
Limits & honesty
The service can change, pause, or reject abusive use. We tell you plainly what the product does and doesn't do. No fine-print traps, no claims we can't keep.
No surprise charges. No retention dark patterns.
No free trial — Free is the trial (same product, lower ceiling). Plans renew until canceled. Annual billing is 20% cheaper than monthly. Cancellation is end-of-period, not immediate lockout.
