Help — for people who skip the docs.
From first source to grounded daily use in ten minutes. Plus the seventeen questions our skeptics ask first.
Six steps. Ten minutes. One AI that knows you.
- 1
Create an account.
Email + password, or Sign in with Google. Two fields and your AI starts learning you.
- 2
Bring one source.
PDF, URL, or paste. Notebook attaches it; the AI indexes it so every answer can cite it.
- 3
Ask one grounded question.
In the notebook chat. Watch the citations on the right side — every claim maps back to a page in your source.
- 4
Write one journal entry.
Private by default. Tomorrow it becomes context your AI can reason with — only if you opt in.
- 5
Try one Quick Poll or Deep Survey.
Three to fifteen minutes. Your AI learns what you actually think. Eligible completions earn points.
- 6
Export anytime.
Settings → Export. Plain markdown. Whole-account or scoped. We earn trust by making leaving easy.
Seventeen questions, grouped the way you actually ask them.

Getting started
What is Personal Context Intelligence?
AI that grounds every answer in your own sources, journals, and surveys — not the public internet. ChatGPT is general intelligence with no durable memory of you. Personal Context Intelligence is the layer they don't have: your context, citable, exportable, yours.
How do I import a source?
In the notebook, click "Add source" → choose PDF, URL, or paste text. The source is indexed and immediately available for grounded chat. Source ceiling depends on your plan (10/month Free, 50 Pro, 200 Premium).
How do I ask a grounded question?
Open the notebook chat. Ask your question. Every claim in the answer cites the source page it came from. The right pane shows the actual excerpts the AI used. If support is weak, the AI says so — no fake confidence.
Notebooks and sources
What file types can sources be?
PDFs (text-extractable), web URLs (we fetch and parse), and pasted plain text. Image-only / scanned PDFs need OCR upstream. Future: native audio/video transcripts.
Are sources private to my notebook?
Yes. Sources are scoped to your account, and within your account to the notebook you put them in. Row-level security means another user's queries cannot return your sources, ever.
Journal
Is the journal private?
Yes. Private by default. The journal is account-scoped and RLS-isolated. To include journal entries in Genie context (broader-than-notebook AI), you opt in explicitly per session.
Can the AI read my journal without me asking?
No. Genie mode requires explicit context inclusion. Notebook mode is source-only by default. There is no "ambient AI reading your journal in the background" mode. We won't build one.
Surveys and rewards
What's the difference between Surveys and the journal?
Surveys are structured (questions, answers) and teach your AI what you actually think. Journal is open writing. Both build durable context for Genie.
Do I need a crypto wallet to use Journal Genie?
No. The app works completely without one. Eligible surveys earn "points" in your account. If you ever want to claim those points as GENIE tokens on-chain, you connect a wallet later — optional, after-the-fact.
What's GENIE?
A utility / retention reward token. Not an investment. Not a security. Not a profit share. Currently pre-deployment on Base. See /rewards for the full hybrid lexicon.
Billing
What's the difference between Free, Pro, and Premium?
Same product code path; different monthly ceilings. Free: 40 AI credits + 10 source imports per month. Pro ($12/mo): 250 credits + 50 imports. Premium ($24/mo): 800 credits + 200 imports + a stronger reasoning chat path.
What happens if I hit my monthly ceiling?
Credits reset on the first of each month. Mid-month, paid AI features pause until reset OR you can upgrade in-product. No surprise overage charges. No silent gating.
How do I change plans or cancel?
Settings → Billing → Manage in billing (opens Stripe customer portal). Plan changes prorate; cancellation is end-of-period. Your work stays in your account.
Privacy and deletion
Do you train AI on my data?
No. We have not opted in to model-provider training. Your journals, sources, and chats are never used to train AI. The architecture (row-level security, encrypted at rest + in transit) enforces this.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Account → Delete (one-click, with a confirmation). Or email privacy@journal-genie.com. Deletion completes within seven business days; we send proof.
How do I export everything?
Settings → Export → Download. Plain markdown, whole-account by default. Same export the day you sign up and the day you cancel.
Support
Who runs Journal Genie?
One founder, under Yotta-Byte Labs (US, Alabama). All support emails route to a real human. See /about for the founder story.
Email the founder. We mean it.
There's no help-desk script. Email support@journal-genie.com for product questions. Use GitHub Issues for reproducible non-sensitive bugs. Keep notebook content, billing detail, and other account-sensitive data out of public threads.
